Elfa Zulham

Elfa Zulham is an Indonesian native drummer but is a world residence who lives in europe and performs in different countries. His unique style of drumming is evident in his creativity with the music scene now days. He started to play drums at the age of 8, after his dad bought him a drum set for his birthday. He was born in Makassar, Indonesia in 1982, and grew up in Jakarta City, and luckily he was raised in a musical family background.
Back in year 2000, he decided to study more into Jazz & Contemporary music at the Institut Musik Daya Indonesia after joining The Jazz & Workshop byDeviana Daudsjah. There, he studied Jazz drumming with Aksan Sjuman before he left abroad to The Netherlands in year 2006.
In year 2008, he got a scholarship from The Dutch government, which gave him the opportunity to do an exchange study in The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, USA. And in Summer 2010, he received his Bachelor of Jazz performing back in The Prins Claus Conservatory, Groningen.
He had study drums with Ralph Peterson Jr, Owen Hart Jr, Steve Altenberg, Joost Van Schaik, and had lesson from Gene Jackson, Ari Honig, Ali Jackson, Greg Hutchinson and Willie Jones III. And also in The P.C.C school he’s lucky that he can study and got the chances to play with many great NY cats such asDavid Berkman, Alex Sipiagin, Joris Teepe, Freddie Bryant, Don Braden, Mark Gross, Kurt Weiss, Dena DeRose, Robin Eubanks and Bryan Lynch.
Some of his projects is with Tomorrow People Ensemble, Tokek Quartet, Organ Trio and with Re-bop Unit, which made a record in year 2007 with SaxophonistDick Oatts from NY, USA. And in Summer 2010, he just finished a recording with the Korean Jazz singer Yunmi Kang, which featured Alex Sipiagin (NY trumpeter). Beside being a sideman drummer, now he is focusing on writing his own composition and working on his own project called E.Z & The Line Up.
He has been traveling and performs in many different countries, such as Czech republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, Romania, USA (Philly & NY), and also in the Netherlands.
