Victor Pandiwijaya started to study music/classical guitar from age 13, through his pastor, then continued with Jassin Burhan at Kawai Music School, Bogor. When he was 15, he changed instrument to electric bass, learned by autodidact. After finished Senior High School, he was faced by two options, either studied Music Composition in Institut Kesenian Jakarta or University of Indonesia. For some reasons, then he decided the second option, until held Diploma 3 in Office Administration from FISIP-University of Indonesia, and Bachelor Degree in Finance Management from Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia.
For a while he enjoyed his career as stock broker in Jakarta Stock Exchange, until he met Ms.Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah after Indonesian Open Jazz Festival 2004, that changed his career path. Then in 2006 he enrolled at Institut Musik Daya Indonesia, studied double bass with Doni Sundjoyo and Indra Perkasa, and other music subjects he learned from Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah, Aksan Sjuman, Julian Abraham Marantika, Mery Kasiman, Titi Handayani Sjuman, Nikita Dompas, Nathania Karina, Jelia Megawati Heru, Rangga Tarmizi, Sandy Winarta, and Fauzi Saad. He also has taken some Master Classes from John Hondorp, Masako Hamamura, Ernst Glerum (Boi Akih Group), Mike del Ferro, and Robert Davidson (Topology).
In 2010, he did musical work, as one of the Script Writer and Music Director “Aku Bisa”, a musical drama tribute to Ibu Soed, performed in Teater Rama Shinta, Ancol, 20 July 2010. He also has performed in Java Jazz Festival with Jakarta Broadway Singers (2010) and TJNDD Trio featuring Dip’ah (2011). Now he is a member of Julian Marantika Trio.
