Julian Marantika

Julian whom also known as Joy started learning the Piano on the age of 14. He studied Classical Piano from Getih Indra Sunaryo. In Senior High School Joy was active in the School Band playing the Electric Bass. In 2001 Joy studied with Benny Likumahuwa for Music Theory and Saxophone. In 2002 Joy took his first Jazz Piano lesson from Riza Arshad, and at the same year he also learn from Krisna Balagita.

In 2003 Joy join Institut Musik Daya Indonesia for Preparatory Program and continue his study to the Degree program. He graduated from Institut Musik Daya Indonesia in 2007 holding Bachelor of Music in Performance.

He has performed in several major events such as Java Jazz Festival, Pasar Jazz with New Conservative performing original composition, Jazz Goes to Campus accompanying Ruth Sahanaya in Ricki Lionardi and Friends. Joy also performed in “TVRI Jazz Club” with a Trio. He did a recording session in “Jazz Masa Kini” a compilation CD by Aksara Records. Joy was in Ricki Lionardi Big band for a recording session for Ruth Sahanaya Christmas Album in 2006. He also filled in a Soundtrack of “Dunia Mereka” in 2005. His recent project are with Sarimanouk Quartet and Julian Marantika Trio.\



Dhani Syah

dhanyDhani Syah is a pianist and composer originally from Makassar and raised in Jakarta. Began his Organ lesson at the age of 10 and at 12 he started classical piano. Dhani Syah was raised in a family with musical background, where his father and brothers also play music instruments. In 2002, he enrolled at Institut Musik Daya. After years, he expand his musical career as a Pianist, Arranger, Composer in different styles, from Jazz, Soul Funk and R&B.

Recently, he finished his undergraduate degree at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Holland. While in conservatorium, he was featured on “Gipsy Nature”, saxophonist Kestutis Vaiginis quartet, tour to Birtonas, Vilnus and Palanga, Lituania. He also is proud to be a member of the Re-Bop Unit, this quintet was rewarded by selected for a project “The Artistry of Dick Oatts and Young Jazz Musicians”. Also tour in Bucuresti, Timisoara, Bacau, Arad, Cluj, Rumania and The Haque, Assen, Amsterdam and Groningen, Holland.

Dhani writes for his own ensemble quartet featuring guitarist Johannes Radianto, bassist Mattia Magatelli and drummer Elfa Zulham. Comprised of the most talented young musicians around. Although firmly anchored in traditional jazz, is always looking towards the ever-unpredictable future.

Dhani has studied music, piano and composition with the following masters: Jasper Soffers, Marc Van Roon, David Berkman, Krishna Balagita, Indra Lesmana, Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah, Aksan Sjuman, Owen Hart Jr, Michael Moore, Elena Malinova, Steve Altenberg, Joris Teepe, Ralph Peterson, Alex Sipiagin, Freddie Bryant, Dena DeRose, Kurt Weiss, Brian Lynch, Don Braden, Mark Gross and the faculty of Prins Claus Conservatorium.


Carolyn Alphonso

Carolyn Alphonso is a pianist, was born in Jakarta who went to school, worked and lived in Australia for nearly a decade. In there, she completed a Bachelor of Music in Performance (Honours) and a Master’s Degree in Music from The Victorian College of Arts and the University of Melbourne.

In addition to receiving the award from The Music Lover’s Society in Melbourne, Carolyn also get a Licentiate of Music, a diploma from the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB).

Shee is one of the artists from The University of Melbourne, where she gets a chance to play around the city of Melbourne, for a variety of events like The Opening for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, The Wine Tasting for Spring Carnival Festival and many more.

Carolyn is also one of the regular cast and favorite pianists of a famous club, RACV City Club – Melbourne, where the place is getting a reputation as a one of the best clubs in the world.

She is not only experienced as a soloist but also as an accompanist for instrumental players and singers, both in the field of classical and contemporary, and also joined the Yamaha School of Music in Australia for several years.
